You can register for the trip either directly at registration counters or online (limited seats). The counters are set up at public spots like railway stations, markets, and bus stands in Haridwar, and also at the Chardham Yatra terminal in Rishikesh. Just bring a photo ID (though it’s not always necessary), specify your Yatra plans, and they’ll issue you a trip card.

You don’t need a medical certificate anymore, just a photometric registration card, available at the ISBT compound in Rishikesh. You can also register online using the Uttarakhand Tourism App with your Aadhar card.

During peak season, there are plenty of ponies and palkis (sedan chairs) available in the morning, but they get scarce later in the day. Government counters offer fixed-rate bookings for these.

For helicopter shuttle services, they operate from Guptkashi, Phata, and Sersi, with fares varying. You can book tickets online.

If you’re trekking, there are shared jeeps available up to Gaurikund, then it’s a 16 km trek to Kedarnath. The trek has become safer after reconstruction efforts following the 2013 disaster. There are medical facilities, shelters, and police presence along the route for safety.

In Kedarnath, there’s accommodation available, and ongoing redevelopment work is making the area safer and more comfortable for visitors. Shops sell pooja items and prasad, and the pandits at the temple are helpful.

Overall, there’s no need to worry about safety; the government is well-prepared to handle any situation and alert pilgrims in advance.
